Solutions: Alternative Energy

Battelle Science & Technology Malaysia (BSTM) is actively engaged in researching alternative innovative solutions to the world's energy demands, focusing primarily on renewable energy. Partnering with the sixth largest oil company in the world, PETRONAS, BSTM will design, build, and operate a new renewable energy laboratory in Malaysia that will focus on leveraging Malaysia's equatorial advantage into new products and processes. The laboratory will conduct research on renewable energy areas including biomass conversion; fuel cells; solar, hydrogen, and ocean energy. The first phase of research will include focus on biochemicals, biofuels, and bioproducts largely focusing on the palm oil industry. The laboratory will also investigate how the Southeast Asia area can contribute to solving the challenge of global climate change.
